Sol Republic Wireless Deck Giveaway

I'm the kind of girl that has to have music on all the time. Always have been. And I am always singing.

For some reason I never thought to add a radio to my kitchen when I am cooking - so I will end up opening my laptop up and playing music there, or from my cell phone. It works OK, but I feel like I can never get it as loud as I would like it. And have you ever tried dragging a laptop from room to room while you are cleaning? Just so you can hear your playlist? Not so fun.

I never really gave much thought to something like a wireless speaker. That's sort of my husband's department. He's up on those things. Sol Republic contacted me about reviewing a wireless speaker and I jumped at the chance to try one out.

Honestly, I had no idea how much I would love it. I hoped it would make things easier, sound better ... but I really wasn't sure what kind of a difference it would make. The package came with the SOL REPUBLIC x Motorola DECK 1500-10 speaker (featuring R2 Sound Engines and 360° Full Sound for immersive audio) and my oldest held it proudly.

Even my 8 year old knew what it was for! Ours came in the lemon lime color, with an AC adapter, USB charging cable, audio cable and a case. (I love the stretchy black case!)

Once we charged it up (charges amazingly fast by the way!) and synched it to my cell phone, I had access to my entire playlists and radio stations. The sound quality was great and I could get it as loud - or as quiet - as I wanted it. I was jamming out in my kitchen while cooking and later cleaning up.

My husband is in love with it's Heist Mode, which lets you pair up to 5 devices, so your friends can take turns controlling the speaker. Which means he can play his music on it too.

After that, we realized it could pretty much go anywhere with us. We throw it in the car and it goes just about everywhere with us. We played a few hours of music at a park while having a family cookout.

We took it to the beach and played music while the kids built sand castles. (See it right there on top of the polka dot cooler bag?)

I'm going to be upfront here. It was retailing for about $199.99 though you can now find it $149.99 (with free shipping) through the Sol Republic website. I know the price seems high - or at least it did to me. But after the last 2 weeks of using it I can tell you it is WELL worth the price.

With school starting this week, the possibilities for what we can do with this - and where we can take it - are almost endless because it's so small and compact. My cell is always with me and it's easy to throw the speaker in a bag and just go. Those hours we sometimes spend sitting waiting for auditions for the boys? It's coming with us - quietly. Before and after swim lessons? It can go to the pool too! Boys want to play a bit on the playground after school? They can rock their tunes. (They haven't stopped playing with the deck since it came home.)

It even has an option for speakerphone, enabling hands-free calls.

I don't know about you, but since we brought the Rainbow Loom into our house, we have been a bit of a bracelet factory. And I find them everywhere. Veggie Fries - So good the kids will never know it's healthy!

It's sort of funny. My boys will not touch a potato, unless it happens to be in the form of a French fry. And out of my three guys? Only one will willingly eat his veggies. Veggie Fries make me happy not just because it helps me get some extra servings (two to be exact) of vegetables into my kids, but because they were started by a local family from Boston who created them in their home kitchen using all natural real potatoes and vegetables. Even better? They use non-GMO canola and sunflower oil. That is huge with me.

Citron Spa heaven

A few weeks ago, some of my girlfriends from the Rhody Bloggers and I got to check out Citron Spa. Located on Angell Street in Providence, it is Wayland Square's newest oasis.

A Wellness Sanctuary like no other, we offer a modern boutique feel with a nature inspired decor.  Inspiring yet relaxing, our philosophy of rustic nature meets modern science offers a soothing, result oriented experience for our guests. Our services range from the latest technology in laser hair removal to massage, facials, waxing, and nail treatments that incorporate the use of all natural ingredients.

I can't tell you how excited we all were to walk in and be directed to the lounge area. I already loved the sound of that. It wasn't a typical noisy spot where you wait for whatever service you will be getting. A separate room with relaxing chairs on one side, comfy seats in the window on the other where the sunlight was streaming in. I chose the comfy window seat with Carla.

Offered our choice of beverage, I leaned toward the mimosa (because how can you say no to a mimosa) but ended up going with the soothing tea. It was freezing out that morning!

We were all chatting and feeling relaxed, when some girls came in and put soft, heated neck pillows on us. Amazing. As busy moms who never really take the time to do anything for ourselves, I think we could have stayed in the lounge all day. Without treatments even!

Shortly after that, it was time for our pedicures and manicures. Heather, Carla and I went to the Foot Bar first. Heather was getting the Stress Fix, Carla a seasonal one with actual apples and cinnamon and oatmeal she could eat if she wanted to (she didn't), and I was there for the Caribbean Therapy.

What did I tell you. See the apples in the water with Carla? I was loving the all natural products they used.

Let me tell you about my Caribbean Therapy pedicure. Exfoliating with salt and Caribbean cane sugar; softening and conditioning skin with coconut, avocado and passion fruit oils; uplifting with island aromas, including a warm detoxifying seaweed masque on the legs and feet. Complete with a foot and leg massage, hot moist towels, and mango and cocoa butter body creme infused with lime, bay, vetiver and amyris oils. 

That's the warm detoxifying seaweed mask right there, which was wrapped in towels after that. Might not look so pretty but trust me when I say it felt so good. And the massage part was my favorite. I chose a sparkly purple polish for my toes and then we were over to the Nail Bar.

The Caribbean Therapy Manicure starts with a moisturizing milky Caribbean hand bath, precise nail grooming and renewing exfoliation followed by warm detoxifying seaweed masque and warm moist towels while you receive a neck and shoulder massage. A hand and arm massage then softens and smoothes the skin with a mango and cocoa butter body creme infused with lime, bay, vetiver and amyris oils. 

Now I don't have nails. Unless I am getting them put on, there isn't much there. They are always breaking just as they start to look nice. I was a little worried about how I was going to get a manicure without nails, but it was not a problem at all. I went with a very pale pink and I am telling you weeks later that I think getting a professional manicure helped my nails a little. Not only do they look better than they have in I don't know how long, but they are even growing a little longer.

The neck and shoulder massage during the manicure alone will keep me coming back to Citron. Amazing. And so relaxing. I could have fallen asleep. You must try the Caribbean Therapy.

Citron spa isn't just for nails. They offer a variety of other services - facials, waxing and threading, makeup, body masques and wraps, laser treatments and massages. I am in love, and will definitely be back.

Star Wars Angry Birds Telepods - Giveaway!

So it's no secret my boys are obsessed with all things Angry Birds Star Wars. They were thrilled with the last review we did, and pretty much freaked out when the Telepods arrived in the mail recently.
Mommy!!! The new app was available on September 19th! - from my child who had been watching all the commercials and waiting.

They tore into the box to see which one we had been sent to review this time. Disclosure: We were sent the items in the photo below for review. Opinions are, as always, all our own.

Angry Birds Star Wars Telepods from Hasbro let kids play TWO WAYS. (That was huge with my kids.) It not only comes with a classic stack and launch game featuring iconic Angry Birds Star Wars vehicles and environments, but each Telepods figure can be used with the included Telepods base and a compatible smart device to "teleport" the character directly into the new app. This marks the first time Angry Birds players get the chance to customize their line-up, and the first time they can play as the "Pork Side" and fling the pigs.

The boys loved setting the pieces up any way they wanted. They could make the set up different almost every time.

Look closely, one of the boys launched his piece and it's knocking everything down. Favorite part right there. Never gets old they tell me.

With so many different pieces you can purchase to choose from, the boys are all over the selection and planning out which ones they want to buy next to add to their collection.

In my house, we have always been giant fans of Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice. The boys like all the combinations, but up until now the Cranberry with Lime one has been their favorite. Confession time. My oldest saw me putting together this giveaway to go up on the blog. And he freaked out. While I do tell the boys for the most part about what shows I am taking them to, I am keeping quiet on this one. They were so sad when I said we weren't going. (Spoiler alert, we so are! And I can not wait to see their faces when we get to the show!)
