Kinect Sports Season Two

The boys have been so excited getting a chance to try out several new Kinect video games lately (and are suddenly thrilled with the fact that I blog might I add). Their new obsession?

Kinect Sports Season Two

Rated E for everyone - which is just perfect for my crew of 5's and 6. Football, baseball, golf, tennis, darts and skiing. You are IN the game. My absolute favorite thing about the Kinect is that it keeps the boys moving, I can not say enough good things about it. They aren't sitting on the couch with a control in their hand. The couch is moved across the room and they are taking turns being active and cheering each other on.

Season Two includes a new in-game voice control which the boys Loved. You get to use your voice to race through the menus, hike the ball in Football, change your Golf club, call an objection in Tennis and more.  They thought it was great they could yell at the game.

We of course made a review video after.  I think the boys have started looking forward to giving their opinions on camera almost as much as playing the new games.  Kinect sports Season Two is a big hit in our house and I think it will be in yours too - no matter what ages your kids may be.  Al and I have so much fun playing with the boys.  I'll let the boys take it from here...

Dance Central 3

If you follow me at Buy-Her, you might remember how much I loved Dance Central when it first came out for the Kinect.  Well... the game has done so well that XBOX and Kinect have followed up with not one more, but two more games.  And Dance Central 3 is here just in time for the holidays!

Can I just tell you my kids actually cheer when I open these packages from XBOX?  I don't know who in my house is more excited, them or me.  The game is rated T for Teen due to mild suggestive themes and lyrics, but most of the songs are OK for the littler guys. If there is a song you aren't comfortable with, the beauty of this game is you just choose a different one.  Dance Central 3 has over 40 new tracks, from '70s disco grooves to current chart-toppers.  Every song is great in my opinion.

And the boys are in love with having their photos taken and displayed on the TV screen.

A new feature this time around my family is obsessed with? Multi player party mode for up to 8 players!  We actually had a dance off.  Taking the silly photos of our 'teams' before was almost as much fun as dancing!  My husband and oldest son were on one team...

while the twins and I were on the other.  (And yes, the Bunny Bee jumped up at the last second so he could be all flashy and shiny like that.)

I love that you can download new songs as they become available to add to the game.  In case you didn't hear the news?  Gangnam Style.  Downloading that one stat.  You can go online with XBOX and purchase Dance Central 3 for your Kinect directly here.

Check back this weekend for my upcoming post where the boys and I will be reviewing Kinect Sports Season Two.  For now, I will leave you with a few short videos the boys made while busting a move with Dance Central 3.

Kinect Nat Geo TV review

Another game the boys are currently loving is Kinect Nat Geo TV.  It also hit the stores in mid September, blending the Nat Geo WILD TV programs with Kinect technology.  I loved how educational this game is!  The boys took turns picking a subject - like grizzly bears, mountain lions, wolverines and more.  They watch videos in which host Casey Anderson speaks to them and teaches them about the animal, before you get to interact with the video as well.

The Big Guy was loving the grizzly bear segment.  Casey talked about his very own grizzly bear (that's right, he has his own bear) and then the Big Guy got to answer questions and try and spot tracks.  His favorite part was watching himself turn into a bear on the screen.

After learning about how grizzly bears scratch and dig into rocks for protein rich moths, it was his turn (as a bear) to scratch into the rocks and eat the moths.  So much fun, as well as great exercise.  I love this so much more than just watching them sit on the couch and hit buttons.  I am a huge fan of Kinect.

The boys took turns through the first disc and can't wait to start on the second disc tomorrow.  They weren't too happy when it was time to shut it off.  I loved that they were learning things and exercising at the same time!

Kinect Nat Geo TV has an ESRB rating of 10+ (for everyone 10 and older), but my kids are 5 and 6 and aside from needing help reading the screen at times, it was not over their heads.  I would say younger kids can still definitely play with a little help from a parent.  The game retails for $29.99.

Still sitting on the fence?  Here is a review straight from the boys:

Kinect Sesame Street TV review

Have you checked out Kinect Sesame Street TV yet?  It only came out last month (mid September) and the boys are loving it.  I have to honestly tell you that I was not sure they would.  My guys were never 100% into Sesame Street when they were smaller and even then it was only the Elmo segments they would watch.  Also, being 5 and 6 I wondered if they would be too old for this game.

I was completely wrong.  All three were very into the game and there were lots of giggles.  Proving that your child will like this game whether they are still fans of watching Sesame Street or not.  The boys spent quite awhile playing the game and are excited to pop it in again another time.

Kinect Sesame Street TV lets kids have an interactive TV experience between their favorite episodes AND their favorite characters.  Children actively participate though gestures, moving their bodies (exercise right there) and talking with the characters  The boys loved seeing themselves on the screen!  Here is the Bunny Bee in the mirror.

And the Doodle Bop 'snapping a photo'.

The Big Guy even got to put himself IN Elmo's World!  Huge hit with the kids.  The game is rated EC for Early Childhood and retails for $29.99.
