Wordless Wednesday: Sort of on purpose accidents
The Bunny Bee hamming it up, having almost forgotten about yesterday's sort of on purpose accident to his eye. Courtesy of his twin the Doodle Bop*.
*Who learned the hard way that when someone is using PVC pipe (taken from a hockey net in the backyard) as a periscope, you don't smack it into their eye 'to be silly'.

Kindergarten registration and tickly teeth
This morning was Kindergarten registration for the Bunny Bee and the Doodle Bop.
They were all smiles and poses this morning after they got dressed.
They were all smiles and poses this morning after they got dressed.
When it was time to go, we walked around the corner to the school and they talked the whole entire way. We walked right in and then it happened. They lost their little voices. If anyone even looked at them? They averted their eyes and slowly turned their heads in a different direction. Oh yeah, and they declined snacks which included chocolate.munchkins and apple juice.
I said chocolate munchkins and apple juice people!
Upon noticing one of their old teachers in the building they perked up and spoke with her for a minute, but then decided they would be mute again. Just when I thought they had warmed up.
Not only would they not seperate from me, but they each held onto a leg so tightly I was waddling. When it was time for me to sit with the school nurse and go over paperwork, they tagged along with me instead of going to check out the class. These guys wouldn't even sit in the chairs that were next to me. They just each gripped on to my arms.
As I started the paperwork the reading teacher came over and was able to show them some bookbags the kindergartners were being given and suddenly the boys were interested. They were so excited by the new book inside that even though they didn't crack a smile, they were suddenly willing to go check the other things out and off they went.
When I finished, I was so happy to find them sitting at a table with other children coloring after eating a snack after all. The best part? The Bunny Bee was asked if he liked to color and he nodded seriously and said something to the effect of Yeah. I'm pretty good at it. I stay in the lines.
That kid held up the paper and pointed to some tiny spots and said Except these little pieces. I don't bother with them.
And my child was back.
On the way out we took a photo and this is how the boys decided they would pose.
These two are in love with the new books they got!
And because everything always tends to happen at once with the kids... we were cutting it too close to pick up the Big Guy from school so Al went and got him. He took him to his office. One of the girls gave the Big Guy a Starburst candy. No sooner were they in the parkinglot to go to lunch when the Big Guy lost a bottom tooth that he didn't even know was loose.
Actually a great thing it happened like that. After losing the first three teeth to injury he was terrified to lose another... no matter how many times we told him when a tooth is actually ready it won't hurt. He said he was eating the candy and his tooth felt all tickly... and then he pulled it out.
This kid is going to pick my lottery numbers next. Do you know what book he brought home from library today? One about a dog having a loose tooth.

The Christmas Money
The boys each had a nice crisp $20 bill they had been itching to spend. Christmas money. After the Big Guy spent some of his birthday money last weekend, it was all I heard about from the twins.
Over and over.
In stereo.
Friday night the Big Guy had his birthday sleepover at my parents house, so Al and I took that opportunity to take the twins out to spend their money. Those cutie pies asked to be taken directly to Target (taking after their Mom already). When asked if they would rather go to Toys R Us they seemed ecstatic.
While the Big Guy literally takes forever to make any decision regarding toys and parting with his money...the twins have always been pretty quick. So it totally took me by surprise when they had us hitting aisle after aisle excitedly yelling 'Look Look!' When I would say 'OK you want that?' they would reply 'Nah' and move on again. Crazy. This was not the little guys I knew.
Halfway through the store they found the Imaginext toys...which is a huge hit in our house. Super heroes especially. Love that all the toys interchange between the sets. The boys were drawn to the Imaginext Toy Story 3 Tri-County Landfill (at what I thought was $39.99, but would later find out that price was for a toy that didn't happen to be in the right spot). I explained to the boys that they didn't have enough money....unless they wanted to combine their money and share the toy. After having said that I really tried to sway them to each get their own toy.
Those boys stared at the package and without even having to ask the other both replied that they would share it. I felt all teary. Al told them if that's what they wanted to do that was OK, but first lets look at the rest of the toys and then decide...we could come back at the end if they didn't find separate toys. The boys continued to look at toys, but also kept asking when they could go back and get the Toy Story one. By the time we hit the last aisle they were practically racing back the other way.
I loved seeing how proud they were. Al noticed the set came with Buzz Lightyear (the Bunny Bee's favorite), but no Woody (the Doodle Bop's favorite) ... so he snuck in a Woody and a horse for the boys as well. Turned out that set was $49.99 ... that plus the cost of the extra Woody toy ... and while I was really not happy it came to so much, at the same time we didn't mind because we were so proud of them choosing to share.
They could not get home and changed fast enough while Al took it out of the packaging and set it up.
And they have not stopped playing with it since.
Hours of fun over the last few days. I love that they made this decision together.

Is it a full moon?
The last two days the boys have been full of crazy and funny things. I have no idea why, but I'm wondering if there is a full moon I didn't know about.
Yesterday I picked up the boys from school and the Big Guy hops in the truck and tells me I need to hurry up so I can 'Follow that silver truck over there!' I turn around and say What?! and he proceeds to tell me one of his kindergarten friends was having a late Halloween party after school (uh huh) and she invited him. She told him to tell me to follow her Mommy's truck home.
Ha ha ha ha! Yeah. Um, no.
The poor thing was so upset when I tried explaining that we don't just follow someone home and as nice as it was she invited him, only Mommies arrange play dates. (This comes in second only to the time he ran out of school yelling another 5 year old's address at me so I could take him over.)
Last night I got tough with the boys and made them clean their rooms. The twins were so proud when they were done. They did their best to put toys away and make their beds.
Then I noticed this.
What they said in unison with straight faces. When I asked what THAT was under the bureau they seemed proud to tell me that's where they put 'everything else!' Because of course.
The Bunny Bee has been begging me for days to play Cut the Rope on my phone. While Al lets the boys play on his phone, I tend not to. They know what they are doing, but my phone is like my lifeline and I worry there will be an accident. This morning I sat the Bunny Bee down on my bed and reluctantly gave him the phone.
Realizing I hadn't set the game up for him I turned around to do so and found him already pulling up the app and playing. Then he promptly complained I hadn't unlocked enough levels. (Um, because I suck at that game.) I told him I didn't play much because it was not a very easy game and he said
'Oh Mommy, maybe some time I can sit down and show you how to play because I'm good at it.'
Well OK.
Then he throws in 'Oh but not right now Mommy, I'm busy playing.' (Did I mention he's only FOUR?)
And lastly, leaving the house to go to school this morning? We notice this on the front steps.
The boys thought it was hysterical something took off the top and threw out the glow sticks from Halloween. They decided it must have been a 'naughty squirrel'. Where they come up with any of this I have no idea. The hole in the side of the pumpkin's head? Not so funny to them.
The Big Guy then asked me why he hasn't noticed hands on squirrels.
Oh.dear.
