Graduation Day

My babies graduated this morning.

I loved every last minute of their big show.  We recorded several pieces and I have some up on YouTube already but Al has to add the ones he took.  For now, here are some photos from the day.

The Doodle Bop was beyond excited getting to wear a hat with a giraffe on it.  He made sure his teacher would hand him the giraffe (by constantly reminding her over and over how much he loves giraffes).  You know, just in case she forgot.

Here is the Bunny Bee.  This is the best shot I have of him during the show.  The adorable girl in the blue and white dress who towers over him blocked him from my view almost the entire time. Do you think years from now if I tell him he is the Doodle Bop in photos he will believe me?

The night before the big show

Tomorrow is a huge day for the twins.

The 'Big Show'.

Also doubling as their graduation from pre-K.  Where the Big Guy had 3 years of pre-K, three shows... the twins only had this one year.  I loved watching the Big Guy up there each and every year, but I will never forget his first one.  I could barely see through my tears.

I can feel the tears behind my eyes just thinking of watching the Bunny Bee and the Doodle Bop tomorrow.

The boys were each assigned their own line to say at some point during the show.  The Bunny Bee happens to be opening the whole thing.  And he is such a ham they ended up giving him his own monologue ala Saturday Night Live.  OK, not really.  But 4 long lines for a four year old sure seems like it.

When I tucked them into bed tonight they must have told me 30 times they were too excited to sleep.  They wanted it to be the big show now.  Then they started yelling out their lines.  After I left the room I stood outside the door for a little while just listening to them chat.

I'm so excited!

Me too!  I don't think I can sleep!

I know but we HAVE to get sleep like Mommy said.

Yup so we won't be too tired.

But I'm soooo excited!

Me too!

Wordless Wednesday - Speechless

My FOUR year old wrote this for his brother.  Without help.
No.words.

Baby fever, pre-K style

Last night the boys and I were snuggling on the couch before they went to bed.  They had gotten in trouble so there was no TV, yet they insisted on sitting in the dark (like they do when they actually watch TV before bed).

With nothing else to do, they suddenly had lots to chat about as they all tried to cuddle with me at the same time.  (That was so much easier when they were all tiny!)

Out of what seemed like nowhere, the Doodle Bop asked for a baby.

You want a what?! I gasped.

Baby!  I.want.a.baby!  Angel has a baby.  Cam has a baby.  I want to be a big brudder.  Get a baby... boy.

When I got over the shock I had to laugh.  Angel and Cam are his 4 year old friends in pre-K... who clearly do not have babies.  But their moms have had babies recently.  And now the Doodle Bop - who is technically the youngest in the family - thinks he can just order one up to be one of the cool kids.

The Bunny Bee and the Big Guy agreed with the baby part, but decided they wanted a gwhirll!

There was a time I (quite a while ago) where I remember asking the boys if they wanted a baby brother or sister and they all looked at me and said no more babies... and the Big Guy made some kind of comment about how there were too many kids in this house.

To think I always thought the boys would come home from school asking for things like the newest pair of sneakers someone wore, or a new toy a friend got.

Nope, my kids are requesting a baby.

No longer my babies

I have a lot to update I know.  Last week was amazing being at Style Week Providence every night.  (Also exhausting, but I'll live.)  Took a small hiatus for the week while I soaked it all in, wrote four articles for Buy-Her and still have two to go.  This weekend I have not been able to get past what tomorrow will bring.

Actual concrete evidence that I no longer have babies.

All three of my boys start school tomorrow.  While the Big Guy has been in a pre-K for years, tomorrow it's the big leagues.  Kindergarten.  And the twins?  Well the Bunny Bee and the Doodle Bop will be in the pre-K classroom right around the corner from the Big Guy's kindergarten room. Same school.  Five mornings a week.  And so it begins.  The realization that I will never ever have babies home with me full time again.

Last week I was serious when I said Jules and I had been through enough having 3 babies each in just a year and a half, school needed to start and not be postponed after Hurricane Irene.  It felt like we had waited so long ... only to have to stop and wait again.  The last few years felt like it took forever to go by in some respects.  I could not see getting here - to this day.

And now that I am here?  And it's all gone by?  All I can think about is these three little faces.

And wonder how it was we got here.
