I got gored for good!

Gored for Good was today in Providence, to support Amos House. I ran the 2 miles on the Rhody Mama's team with some of my fellow Rhody Bloggers. OK... maybe I didn't run the entire thing.

Here we are before the start of the race. Derby girls (aka the bulls) behind us, ready to splash our clean white shirts with red paint.

I love this photo so much I had to zoom in when posting it. Heather and I checking our phones before the race. Because bloggers are always in touch with what is going on! Even if you are about to be chased by derby girls on skates!

After the derby girls cleared out of the corral, the boys and their friends stepped in to pretend to be bulls. Well, everyone except the Bunny Bee. He likes to do his own thing sometimes.

Once the race started, we were all 'hit' almost immediately with paint. And it didn't stop.

I have to give a big giant shout out to Kam who didn't let me quit. This girl right here runs half marathons. For fun! She watched me fall behind (lets be honest, after like a minute and a half of running) and stopped and waited for me. I told her to go ahead, but she stuck with me and did the walk/run/walk/run thing, encouraging me the whole time. Love her for that!

We picked up beads and posed with the bull at the Siesta station (which was the halfway mark). And somehow, I made it to the end. Al was right there with the boys snapping photos.

Elizabeth got this shot as Kam and I finished. I laughed so hard when I saw the photo. It looks like I am giving Kam the side eye. I swear I was just trying to breathe and not fall over.

Once I could breathe again? Photos with Jen and my awesome friend Laura who took her kids to watch the race. Anyone notice how not so gored - or even out of breath - Jen looks? I on the other hand look like a crime scene happened to me.

And my boys. It was really cool to have them there telling me I did good. And that they didn't have to wait too long for me. (They guess.)

 

P.S. - I did finish that 2 mile run/walk in just over 20 minutes so I guess I didn't do that bad. We just won't talk about how I was so tired I fell asleep on the couch after lunch. What? Who? I don't know.

Looking forward to doing this again next year! Not only was it so much fun, but it raised some money for a really great cause (which I even got to talk to my kids about).

 

Watch out for the Rhody Mama's team next year! I have a feeling we will be triple in size and a fundraising force to be reckoned with!

Give and Glam fabulousness

Last night was Give and Glam, a girls night out event to benefit Hasbro Children's hospital.  I was on board from the minute my friends at Rhody Mamas announced it.  Lianne and I bought our tickets right away. 

And we had the best time!  It didn't matter that it rained on our walk in from the parking lot, that it took forever to order drinks, or that I very nearly cried after standing two hours in my glittery heels from hell.  It was all still amazing. 

Lianne and I dorked out on the red carpet.  Instead of striking a fashionable pose we hugged each other around the neck. 

We took crazy photos.  Like this one.  Li pulled over a random older guy in a tux before the night ended because we had to have a photo of us in these uber cool swing chairs.  When he couldn't do it from her phone his wife came in to 'help' and like 10 minutes of smiling and wait and hold ons later, we had this.

                                                                       So yeah.

We chatted with so many awesome girls.  There was hair chalking (which I have been dying to try) and tattoos and I somehow managed to miss it all going on because I was too busy chatting.  And this is where I get mushy.  My life has changed so much over the last two years and it is all because I started this little blog right here.  I have amazing amazing women in my life now that I am honored to call my friends.  And it all started right here.

Li you are stuck with me forever and ever and I thank you for coming to all these events with me. And you know, standing at the bar for us while I hobbled outside to the deck with my fabulous glittery heels from hell... for bringing the drinks and sitting down on wet chairs and not caring and chatting away.

And to my Digital Media and Rhody Blogger friends, each and every one of you rocks.  I love you all.

Mingling Moms and Rhody Mama Love

Last night I went to the Mingling Moms event put on by Rhody Mamas at Bellani Maternity.  So much fun!  It was nice to run into so many friends standing outside already when I arrived.  Can you see me?  I'm all the way on the left in the black, about four girls back. 

We walked in on an adorable pink carpet and checked in.  Awesome goody bag too for registering early!  Y'all know how much I love my swag!  Stila Lip Glaze, a gift card to the Savory Grape (because I love wine even more!), Old Navy bucks, a Kayleigh's Klippie and more!

My girls and I made our first stop at the Savory Grape wine and Yacht Club soda table.  Mmmm Merlot.  So.good!  Having learned about lines from Getting Gorgeous, I saw the empty seat at the Stila table from Studio B and hopped right in!

I got an awesome makeover.  Loved the liquid foundation with the bronzer in it - SPF included by the way!  And my eyes!  Kicking myself for not getting a photo after it was all done.  Everyone complimented me on my eyes after that.  Here's Carla getting hers done.

The Kayleigh's Klippies table made me wish I had little girls in the house. Tutu's, hair clips and more.  So adorable.  No words.  Bellani had some great sales going on as well!

Finally met Joanna and Kristen in person which was so nice!  And Sarah, Shannon, Carla and I spent awhile talking in between raffles.  That's right, I said raffles.  Lots of prizes were given away between the shopping.  I won the only item I already own - and happen to love.

I got my first School Years from momAgenda at Style School.  After that I was so in love that I recently ordered two more from Zulily, so I have one for all 3 boys.  I may have been terrible at baby books and photo albums for them as I sort of live life digitally and without scrapbooks.  This though?  I can rock for them.
