Wordless Wednesday - Hockey Sticks edition

The boys are not just learning to skate any longer! Tonight was the first night with their new hockey sticks at practice. They were so excited to get on the ice!

And oh so sweaty when they got off the ice. Here the are proudly posing just before we left the rink.

Check out that hair!

Thankful Thursday

Linking up with my girl Joanna at Baby Gators Den because it's Thursday y'all! Last week was rough as you all know... this week?  A little bit better.  Easier to find things to be thankful for.

This week I am thankful:

that I got to spend a little time with my uncle and cousin from Colorado before they flew back home (even if the reason they were here was sad).

that I have got to see my grandmother the day after my grandfather's service. All I want to do is go to her house and park my butt on her couch... but for now I'm trying to give her some time. I was so happy to see her.

that I am about to pick up another social media client (can't give details yet but they will come).

for apple cinnamon water. Yes I know how random that is. Apples and a cinnamon stick in a giant batch of ice water in the fridge. It is getting me through the week as I cut down my coffee a little and try my best to do away with soda... which I'm still working on.

that the Big Guy's headaches earlier in the week did not end up turning into him spiking a temperature (which is how it goes with him). Also thankful that he and the Doodle Bop seem to be doing better cold wise (minus whoever had the barky cough last night) and that the Bunny Bee is still healthy.

for being able to watch all three boys get on the ice twice a week. (Freezing cold aside, I think I might have just been MADE to be a hockey mom.) LOVE watching them go and I am beyond proud seeing how far the Big Guy has come with his balance. It is hard to watch his brothers out skate him, but that kid is holding his own and it is wonderful to see.

for a great Physical Therapy evaluation at Hasbro today, as well as a great neurologist appointment. They are impressed with how the Big Guy is finally hopping and skipping ... and our neurologist called him 'my miracle kid' which brought tears to my eyes. The Big Guy may not get the weight of it, but I certainly do. No botox surgery in the immediate future needed. (If only I could make him see he is doing so well because of the exercise, constant PT and sports...) Still calling today a win.

What are you thankful for this week?

Getting back on track

I know I have been kind of quiet lately.

That will be changing.

Four straight weeks of being sick might just be a new record for me and I have been totally wiped out. This entire time I have been trying to get extra rest where I can, while still running around everywhere with the boys. Which I'm sure brings me right back to why I've been sick for a month now. And in the middle of all that, a friend's small daughter was diagnosed with Cancer while another friend unexpectedly lost her dad.

Roller coaster of emotions lately. Part of me would like to blurt my every thought out here, but its one of those things I need to keep in. (As I silently curse no longer having that anonymous blog.)

I may not have started off the New Year with the bang I was looking for health wise or career wise... but I'm getting there. Finalizing some things first. Then watch out for me!

Over the weekend I had my first hockey mom fail. The morning we were supposed to get the boys all signed up, we overslept. Well, we did manage to get up before the rink time but it was so late we couldn't get the boys moving fast enough. And then I went back to bed to again try sleeping off this cold. Here's to tomorrow night for starting over again!

Tomorrow morning the Big Guy also has his Occupational Therapy evaluation. It feels like it has taken so long to get the ball rolling through all the red tape. I am excited to hear what they say for his sake. I am also beyond thrilled with how supportive his teacher is as the smaller things are becoming the tougher things for him. It used to be the other way around.

I hope to be back blogging again tomorrow, but it will be a busy day. Two hours with the boys for the Big Guy's PT and OT eval in the morning, school, hockey (hopefully) and attending the wake for my dear friend's dad. One thing I can be sure of... I won't be skipping this week's Thankful Thursday. Getting myself back on track.

Back on the ice

The twins took it hard when we told them we wouldn't be able to do their hockey/learn to skate program this year.  They loved it last year.  We did promise we would take them skating a few times this year.  Friday after school we surprised them with their very first trip skating outdoors (instead of at the indoor rink).  The twins were super rusty and it took us an entire.hour. to get around the rink once... but the boys had a great time.  Falls and all.  And the Big Guy?  Picked it up pretty well for his first time on ice ever.  Below are the photos.

Wordless Wednesday - Double shot

Let me set the scene (for a not so Wordless Wednesday).  Two three year olds cried all last fall that they were not old enough to play soccer like their brother, only forgetting about how sad they were once they started hockey.  This summer they turned four and begged to play soccer first with their big brother.

This past Saturday was the first practice - all 3 on the same 'team'.  We started all smiles.  The twins were even showing off their skills.  Half way though?  This happened:

Two hysterical four year olds on the field who felt like they weren't getting the ball enough.

For the last half hour.  Periodically yelling that they were done with soccer and only want to play hockey.  "JUST HOCKEY!"

It's going to be a long fall soccer season.
